Huong Dang
AVLD's inaugural Executive Director, Huong Dang, is also an alumna from the first Dialogue in 2017. During that Dialogue, she pitched her idea and subsequently turned it into Vietnam's first social enterprise, HopeBox, which helps women who have experienced gender-based violence.
Huong joined our team in 2023 as Program Director and worked on the delivery of the 2023 Dialogue in Vietnam.
Huong holds a Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Swinburne University of Technology. She worked for an IT company in Melbourne before moving back to Vietnam in early 2017, where she served as Director of Strategy and Partnerships Engagement for KOTO Vietnam.
Throughout her career, Huong has focused on creating social impact to elevate underserved communities, including at-risk children, disadvantaged youth, and women, helping them achieve better lives through education and job placements. She is passionate about social entrepreneurship and education, believing they are powerful ways to uplift communities.
In 2023, Huong was selected as one of 12 global leaders to become an Obama Scholar, spending an academic year at Columbia University in New York City. There, she engaged in both academic and experiential learning activities provided by Columbia University and the Obama Foundation, including conversations with President Obama and Hillary Clinton. She was also one of 16 global leaders to participate in the Yale World Fellows program at Yale University.
We value Huong's global reach and deep bilateral connections and look forward to the opportunities her leadership brings to Australian and Vietnamese leaders through our signature Young Leadership Dialogues and related programs.
