Chau Ta

Chau is the Executive Director, Legal Transactions for SC Capital Partners Group, a funds manager managing RECAP opportunistic funds investing in real estate. She leads (legally) all transactions for SC Capital Pan Asia including Australia and Vietnam.


She has over 21 years work experience in the real estate sector - highly experienced in real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, international corporate/commercial law. Chau has been living and working from Vietnam for over 18 years and is highly regarded for her real estate insights and knowledge within Vietnam. She first came back to Vietnam and worked for Allens (Phillips Fox then became Allens Arthur Robinson then). She was also Vice President - Legal for a listed company on the London’s AIM stock exchange investing in Vietnam and Cambodia. She headed the Real Estate Practice Group for DFDL Vietnam before she moved to her current role with SC Capital, where she has been for 12 years.


Chau is one of the Panel of Judges for the Vietnam Property Awards since 2015 and continuing. Chau launched the first annual AusCham - Vietnam Real Estate Symposium in 2012 – this is now its 10th year running.


Chau has served as a board director as well as Chairwoman and Vice Chair for Auscham Vietnam between 2012 -2021.


Chau is a Foundation Member of AustCham ASEAN when it first formed in 2017, served as its President in 2020 and 2021 and as Vice President in 2022.


Chau also sits on UNICEF Vietnam Corporate Advisory Board and RMIT Vietnam School of Business Management Industry Advisory Board.


Chau is Vietnamese born Australian lawyer, holding a Bachelor of Arts /Bachelor of Laws (Honors) and Masters of International Law (Honors) from University of Sydney. She is married to a Vietnamese husband with 3 children.
